Synopsis
It is forbidden to help a migrant in an irregular situation, even in a situation of danger. This is called a crime of solidarity. Nearly 900 people are convicted of this every year in Switzerland. This is also the case in around ten European countries. In 2005, the Federal Parliament decided to put in the same bag people who act for humanitarian reasons in favor of undocumented foreigners and professional smugglers exploiting human misery. Since then, convictions have doubled, without hampering the smugglers’ business.
The documentary features ordinary citizens who don’t hesitate to brave the law by helping migrants and refugees at risk. Winner of the 2020 OMCT prize at the International Film Festival on Human Rights.
